Proefnotitie
Wie barossa-shiraz kent van deze kwaliteit weet dat veel, liever gezegd heel veel lucht nodig is zodat de wijn zich in zo'n jonge fase opent. Maar dan worden we overdonderd door bramen en blauwe bosbessen, kruidnagel, kaneel en vanille, het beste Franse eiken, wat munt, peper en zoethout. De shiraz bekleedt de mond volledig, wordt romig en overvloedig, kruidig en intens met grote lengte en complexiteit.Vooral charmeren echter de volheid en elegantie van de tannine en de koele, spannende mineraliteit van de 'Fifteen'.

The 2017 Fifteen Shiraz—to be released next year—is embryonic, showcasing blueberry and blackberry fruit and a veneer of French oak. It's full-bodied, concentrated and rich, densely packed with layers of slowly unfolding flavor, notes of cracked pepper and licorice and hints of mocha on the long finish. The fruit is from a parcel of vines planted in 1915 in the Greenock subregion of Barossa.

From a parcel of 1915 plantings out in Greenock. It has a very exotic and complex nose with aromas of orange peel, dark plums, red plums and tarry elements with violet and spicy notes, as well as dark chocolate and poached, spiced plums. The palate has striking depth and intense blackberry, dark-cherry and spiced-blueberry flavors. Super silky tannin texture here, this is really supple and velvety and the flavors carry so long.

There's a wonderful sophistication to the polished black cherry, milk chocolate, French roast coffee and blueberry notes, with thick, velvety tannins and details of cardamom, Kalamata olive and black pepper. The flavors continue to cascade on the long finish.

De grote drie: pizza, hamburger, steak. Doet het ook goed bij streetfoodfavorieten zoals pulled pork.
De wijn
Deze wijn komt van shiraz-wijnstokken die in 1915 in de omgeving van Greenock in Barossa Valley werden geplant. De knoestige, oude wijnstokken leveren extreem geconcentreerd fruit dat in twee grote vaten van ongeveer 1.500 liter werd vergist en ongeveer zes weken op de schil bleef weken. Daarna werden de druiven geperst en rijpte de wijn enkele winters op het beste Franse eiken.
