Proefnotitie
De ‘Estate Pinot Noir’ uit de heuvels van Bien Nacido bevat alle traditionele toetsen van deze bijzondere locatie. In de neus spelen intens geurende zwarte thee, mandarijnenschil en potpourri de hoofdrol. In de mond overtuigt de wijn met een prachtige balans tussen tonen van verse kersen en exotische specerijen, sandelhout en salie. Deze wijn zal alleen maar complexer worden in de fles – hij zal zijn volledige potentieel de komende vijf jaar ontplooien.

Moving to the reds, the 2021 Pinot Noir was raised in 45% new barrels and reveals a translucent ruby hue as well as a gorgeous bouquet of spiced red and black raspberry fruits, leafy herbs, forest floor, and baking spices. Medium-bodied on the palate, it's not the most massive or richest in the vintage, yet its balance is spot on, it has beautifully integrated tannins, and lively acidity. It's a stunning Pinot Noir with so much character. Drink bottles over the coming 7-8 years.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate Bien Nacido Vineyard offers up scents of rose petal, mint, cedar, blood orange, pipe tobacco and dried herbs. Aromatic and yet poised, with tons of understated depth, the 2021 is super-impressive. Bright acids propel the finish effortlessly. What a gorgeous wine this is.

De wijn
Stephen en Bob Miller plantten de eerste wijnstokken op deze historische wijngaard in 1973 en maakten van Bien Nacido een van de meest gewilde wijngaarden in Californië. Slechts twee procent van de blokken 1, 31, 32 en 40 van de wijngaard werd gebruikt voor de ‘Estate Pinot Noir’, die wijnmaker Anthony Avila spontaan liet fermenteren en 16 maanden liet rijpen in 45 procent nieuw Frans eikenhout. De wijn werd vervolgens ongefilterd en zonder klaring gebotteld.
