De wijn presenteert een diepdonkerrode kleur met hier en daar zwarte reflecties en het intense, gelaagde bouquet verspreidt aroma’s van kersen, bessen, viooltjes, kruiden en specerijen. In de mond is de 'Vigneto Branca' geconcentreerd, sappig en persistent, met tonen van donker fruit, aardse, kruidige, florale en minerale toetsen, gepolijste tannines, een verkwikkend zuurtje en een krachtige, harmonieuze, zuivere afdronk.

Also very beautiful, the Cigliano di Sopra 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva Vigneto Branca comes in at a higher price point compared to the excellent annata wine, but the quality is as impressive here. The main difference between the two wines is aging potential, and of course this wine is poised for the longer cellar life of the two thanks to its extra textural tightness and structure. The Vigna Branca was planted in 1972, and you get old-vine fruit with the added complexity that comes with advanced plant age. However, the bouquet is very similar in terms of freshness and transparency. It offers lively notes of wild berry, rose, blood orange and crushed stone. This Riserva is a shade darker in appearance. Production is 2,050 bottles, 49 magnums and six double magnums. This is the first vintage that this wine is designated as a Chianti Classico Riserva. It was an IGT Toscana wine before this year.

The first vintage of this 2,000-bottle single-vineyard Riserva and it stuns with its texture and precision. The use of 100% whole-bunch fruit is inspired – Matteo explains that this achieves some of the ‘fruity impact of carbonic wine’ while also helping to preserve the fruit without the use of sulphur additions. It also brings a hint of candyfloss, with enticing, breezy scents of cherry and cream. It has a beautifully silky texture allied to bright cherry, lifted balsam and rose petal notes, gum-tingling acidity and a saline finish. Despite its immediate appeal, this has the structure to age really gracefully.

Healthy mid ruby. Firm, compact and balsamic with complex perfumed fruit rising from the glass with aeration. Succulent, perfumed fruit on the palate and with a gorgeous layer of sandy tannins. Super-elegant and very long.

De grote drie: pizza, hamburger, steak. Doet het ook goed bij streetfoodfavorieten zoals pulled pork.
De wijn
De sangiovese-druiven voor deze chianti classico riserva groeien in de individuele wijngaard Branca en werden met de hand geoogst. Ze werden voor de helft ontsteeld, vervolgens gekneusd en gefermenteerd met natuurlijke gisten. De wijn rijpte daarna 14 maanden in Franse eikenhouten barriques en tonneaus en nog eens tien maanden in de fles.
