De Reiterpfad G.C. Riesling VDP Grosses Gewächs van het Paltser wijnhuis Dr Bürklin-Wolf is stralend goudgeel van kleur en heeft een verrukkelijke neus met subtiele tonen van geel fruit en een fijne mineraliteit. In de mond presenteert hij rijpe tonen van steenfruit, rode appel en een ware explosie van specerijen. Dit wordt perfect afgerond door de delicate minerale toets. Een wijn die nog een geweldige toekomst voor zich heeft.

Staggering concentration on the mouth-filling, but finely-nuanced palate. The fruit tastes as if the orange has somehow crawled inside the apricot or vice versa. Super-silky mouthfeel, the fully ripe fruit beautifully underlined by the flinty minerality, the two elements so beautifully intertwined it takes your breath away. From biodynamically grown grapes. Wild-fermented in large neutral oak. Vegan.

The 2022 Reiterpfad G.C. is another picture-book wine from the red sandstone soils in this village, but here the mineral and iodine-inflected nose intermingles with an intense and finely flinty aroma of ripe yellow apples, quinces and mandarin rind. The wine is full-bodied, round and lush on the palate, very elegant, saline and quite generous, with a saline and still-bitter finish with fine tannins and tart citric notes. The finish is long and complex but needs some time to open up. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2023.

The 2022 Riesling Ruppertsberger Reiterpfad G.C. is from lighter, sandier soils, relatively flat, on Triassic sandstone. The nose is not forthcoming. The palate, however, unites overtones of tangerine with a smooth, serene, fluid body that packs quite a punch of freshness. This is stonier, more direct, linear and not quite ready to talk to us yet. Libelli says Reiterpfad always takes time to come out of its shell.

De wijn
De druiven voor deze riesling-GG groeien in het beroemde Reiterpfad op een zandige leembodem met wat rode zandsteen en kalksteen. De druiven worden in verschillende etappes met de hand geoogst en geselecteerd in de wijngaard. Het fruit wordt vervolgens spontaan vergist met de natuurlijke gisten. De aansluitende rijping op de fijne droesem zorgt voor extra body en romigheid in de mond.
